At ASU Students for Life, we are tremendously thankful to the dozens of members of the ASU community who give generously of their time, talents, and resources to keep our organization moving forward.  Every month, we recognize one of our advocates as the ASU Students for Life Advocate of the Month.

Meet our October Advocate of the Month! Jackie Welch coordinates our all-new Pregnant and Parenting on Campus Project, which seeks to provide support and assistance to students experiencing unplanned pregnancy. In addition to coordinating the administrative needs associated with launching a new program, she is leading efforts to develop and provide free campus resource guides and support for pregnant and parenting students. Jackie wears several hats: in addition to coordinating Pregnant and Parenting on Campus, she has served as our backup media contact person during We Care and as a dedicated 40 Days for Life volunteer. However, it is her ability to lead with grace and compassion that exemplifies the advocacy skills that are helping our organization be successful. Thank you for everything you do to move ASU Students for Life forward!

Do you want to be featured as an Advocate of the Month this school year? Go to www.asustudentsforlife.com (register here if you have not already done so) and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to learn more about ASU Students for Life and the exciting ways that you can get involved!

ASU STUDENTS FOR LIFE TO ADDRESS ABORTION IN CASES OF RAPE

Students For Life of America’s We Care Tour will be visiting Arizona State University to talk with students about abortion in cases of rape.
Tempe, AZ: Students for Life of America, the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization with more than 800 groups across the country, is coming to Arizona State University to present the We Care Tour, an event specifically geared towards having a compassionate discussion about abortion in cases of rape.

“Sexual assault is unfortunately prevalent on college campuses and pregnancies do result from these senseless acts of violence. However small the percentage of abortions that are committed because of rape, they do happen and lives are taken and shattered because of it,” said Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life of America. “The We Care Tour aims to equip pro-lifers about how to compassionately talk about abortion in cases of rape and give students who have been victims of sexual assault the resources they need to find help and healing.”

The tour will feature a display about how to talk about rape and abortion in a persuasive and compassionate way. Students will distribute supplemental materials as well.

The We Care Tour will take place at the Tempe campus of Arizona State University on Tuesday, November 4 at the Hayden Lawn from 11AM to 2PM.

“The word ‘rape’ is sometimes referred to as a four-letter word when it comes to talking about abortion but it needs to be discussed and we are hoping to present our pro-life message on the rape question concisely, compassionately and accurately to all students, pro-life and those who passionately disagree with us,” added Hawkins.

For more information about the We Care tour, please see www.wecaretour.com. To speak with Kristan Hawkins or another student at Arizona State University please contact Kristina Hernandez at 908-902-8473.

October 21, 2014
For Immediate Release: ASU Students For Life
Tempe, AZ

An important message from our President:

Hello ASU! You may have noticed some chalk outside the Memorial Union today that is inconsistent with our views on the dignity and beauty of all human life. In accordance with our volunteer and club member guidelines, publicly available on our website at
www.asustudentsforlife.com, we ask that you respect the rights of other groups to share their message and refrain from engaging in any disrespectful or destructive behavior towards their chalk. Thank you!

From the leadership of ASU Students For Life:

ASU Students For Life only engages in chalking after obtaining full Arizona State University administration authorization.  Additionally, ASU Students For Life requires all event participants, including all chalking event participants, to sign and to comply with our ASU Students For Life Volunteer Agreement while chalking. Chalking event participants affiliated with ASU Students For Life may only chalk messages officially approved by Students for Life of America or the leadership of ASU Students For Life.
